Why And What We Should Be Thankful For
Thanksgiving has passed and we hope that everyone in the United States had a great Holiday this past week. I know we did! So what are some of the things that you have heard people say they are grateful for? What are you grateful for?
As entrepreneurs, we can and should be thankful for many things if you try to count the many ways that we can be thankful, you may lose count. There are so many, like getting to work from home, on our own schedules, doing what we love, and making money doing it.
But I think this year especially, we as entrepreneurs should be thankful for the many simple things that we have, that many others this year do not. Like having the money to afford a really nice Thanksgiving meal, without worry of how it will be paid for. Having our families, our vehicles, and our homes, when this year, so many have lost it all.
This year there are so many people that no longer have any of these things. They may have lost some, or all of these things. They may have had no Thanksgiving meal, with family, in their own homes. So I say that we as entrepreneurs should think of all of that, before we ever complained again about the long hours, hard work, or anything else that we feel the need to whine about. After all we have the lifestyle that most only dream of, and never acquire.
It’s not that entrepreneurship is out of people’s reach, because it’s not. It’s not because it wasn’t in the cards or the stars, because that couldn’t be farther from the truth. It’s because people are blinded, ignorant, and un-educated to the entrepreneurial ways, beliefs and ethics. People are blinded by the employee mindset that has been engraved in their minds since they were children. People are ignorant to the fact that they actually are capable of doing this business themselves, because no one has showed them the way, and the proper mindset to have. People are un-educated because they have had no mentor guiding them or the proper trainings to put them on a course for success. And yes, there are those people who just refuse to do anything to change their present situation. But I have no pity for them, for they had a choice.
We as entrepreneurs should remember that we could still be one of those people running around lost, without purpose, having lost everything and with no hope. So next time you hear a colleague complaining about writing a blog post at 2 a.m., and how tired they are, remind them to be thankful for all they have. They could have lost it all and still be running around like a lost sheep looking for its U.S. master to guide their way.
